Appearance: Despite being 51 and having snow white hair, Crunch has milky and taut skin which he belligerently insists is the result of a wholly corn and oat based diet. Atop his round head sits a blue Napoleon-style hat with a C clearly emblazoned near the top center. He stands about 5'10" on his tiptoes, and his physique is very slender and built. Wrapped in a buttoned up blue naval captain's jacket with prominent epaulettes and thick golden trim, the jacket's oversized collar easily reaches the cheeks. His bony forearms are wrapped in bandages without any reasonable explanation and no one knows why. The bottom portion of his outfit simply consists of black dress slacks and dark grey boots with large cuffs.

Personality: Crunch has a reputation for an intimidating and brooding appearance, but seasoned members of his crew know he's really just a cranky old breakfast nut with a pirate flag. As a more elderly man, Crunch is a bit more traditional and reserved in the way he approaches things, evidenced in his conviction that the One Piece is just an excuse for a bunch of snot-nosed kids to go out searching for treasure when they could be reinforcing their bodies with fiber and iron from delicious and nutritious cereals. Many bright-eyed pirates join his ranks only to discover he has no intention of exploring the Blue Sea or pursuing Gol D. Roger's alleged fortune, earning his last name "Crunch" because he crunches the dreams of young people into sad little cornflakes of emptiness. Otherwise, Crunch is secretly compassionate about his crew and actually obsesses over their intake of vitamins as well as calcium, iron, and other minerals, making his crew one of the healthiest sailing the Blue Sea. Unbeknownst to them, this diet brings out their bodies true potential over time and consequent to their large consumption of his choice cereals, they will still retain this benefit of accelerated growth even after they leave his crew. For this reason, he has never once stopped anyone from leaving his crew, because he is reassured they can handle themselves.

Background: Born on Crunch Island in the Milk Sea, Cap'n Crunch was a bold and extreme child. He grew up climbing and training on Mt. Crunchmore and befriended the bizarre creatures of the island during his trips to and from the mountain. There was an incident which traumatized him and made him into the nutritionally concerned softie he is today, however because his family members were the only inhabitants of the island, no official records of such an event exist. It is also unknown what drove him to look out to sea and leave his secluded island home, but it is possible the two are interlinked. Crunch now frequently sails the most known and bland areas of the Blue Sea, preparing the young and oblivious members of his pirate crew's constantly changing roster for the fierce and unforgiving world which awaits them.
